Tasmanian Tiger
A Tasmanian Tiger sculpture. Sculpey III clay; painted in acrylics.
Some information on the Tasmanian Tiger:
The Tasmanian tiger, also known as the Tasmanian wolf or the thylacine, was the largest carnivorous marsupial. It lived in Australia, Tasmania, and New Guinea. Its extinction is attributed primarily to hunting as the Tasmanian government issued a bounty for every one killed, though it is also believed that human encroachment and disease also played a part. The last wild thylacine was killed by a farmer in 1930. The last known living thylacine- named Benjamin, though its believed to be female- died in captivity of neglect in 1936. There have been over 3,000 sightings of wild thylacine since, but none have been confirmed. There were efforts to clone them, but due to the degradation of the DNA, the project was halted in 2002. There is evidence of the thylacine’s continued existence, but nothing can be conclusively proven.

I don’t really know, I just read that there had been a lot of supposed sightings. But obviously living in the US I can’t speak from personal experience.
Oooh, I’d like to see that photo! 😀
