I added this six page lead-in for the redux to introduce the main theme of the comic right away. I always kind of alluded to it in the comic’s tagline (‘You can’t reach heaven on broken wings’), but felt that the story would ultimately work better if we see it upfront. Too many stories shove giant ‘plot twists’ at the audience a good ways in, but the impact generally falls flat when it just comes out of nowhere without any buildup. Part of this redux was about avoiding that same thing, so that these elements don’t seem incongruous with the rest of the story when they eventually surface again.
