Chapter: Chapter 4: The Rogue Daemon
And I FINALLY got rid of my art block on this page and got it done! Only took… a month and a half. -_-* Well, I’m still not very happy with it, but I mustered the motivation to force myself to work on it anyway. Also VERY not happy with the lackluster narration going on, but it’s the best I could do.
Edit- Fixed the grammar errors. If you looked at the page yesterday, you may have to refresh to see the changes.
This is really nice, Flower! I hope you can keep up being not blocked for a while! The page is really pretty! I love the second pannel, the backgrounds are really sweet 😀 .
Minor grammar nitpicks – Panel 1: “…after the daemon’s were overpowered…”; daemons should not be possessive, and Panel 3: “Their own,…” is pretty vague by itself and somewhat disjointing, and could simply be put as “Their world” (though I totally understand that you didn’t want to overuse “world”, maybe substitute with “realm”?)
Nitpicking aside, gorgeous art as always! It’s amazing to look back and see how much progress you’ve made as an artist, especially with human figures. (Amazing how human anatomy is some of the hardest to draw properly, at least in my experience.)
@Soff- Thank you! Good to hear from you again! ^^
@Spork- Thanks, I’ll fix that first panel. You’re right, it should be Daemons instead. I think that panel 3 is okay, but I’ll change it from ‘their own’ to ‘Terra,’ which should flow better.
Why would they adopt modern fashions? Other than undergarments, are they really all that much more practical? Perhaps they scavenge them to save their own efforts?
More that they’re making a concerted effort to really understand the culture of their new world, as well as take advantage of the advanced tech. It also helps them when they have to go on missions alone or in small groups that will bring them into populated areas, so they aren’t hindered by lack of understanding in their surroundings or standing out in old-fashioned clothes.
Also human nature. It’s new, it’s different, and therefore an object of curiosity.
This hasn’t been covered yet in canon, but since daemons can travel between worlds, there were aware of a lot of modern culture, but didn’t really adopt it until they had to permanently live on Earth. Most had never seen it first hand as crossing worlds is very dangerous, but once forced to, now they can see and experience all the things they’d heard about.
