Well, you DID ask, Andrea.
_________
I’m having a boatload of fun with Pokémon Y, and Pikachu actually gets a voice actor’d “Pikachu!” cry. I’ve never had a dilemma in fully evolving a Pokémon before that. Luckily, there’s Eviolite that you can get fairly early on.
So far it feels like I’m about halfway through the main story of the game, and holy cow is it a huge and beautiful region. The Pokémon feel *alive* somehow with the conversion to 3D, and the Pokémon-Amie certainly helps with that feeling. There’s tons of subtle and not-so-subtle humor, including an “Over 9000!” joke.
A relatively minor but still cool feature is that pretty much every 1st and 2nd gen Pokemon and even some 3rd gen Pokemon have had their cries remastered and individualized. Magneton, for example, reminds me of metal-on-metal scratching sounds. The music is also pretty awesome and beautifully scored, and there’s more “types” of areas than field, cave, forest and mountain. Team Flare is also hilariously *fabulous*.
There will be absolutely zero blame from this corner of your fanbase if you get lost in Kalos this week. (I also accept part of the blame if you do disappear for writing that mini-review.)
I enjoyed Pokémon Y quite a lot too (just finished it a few hours ago). What I loved most was ALMOST ZERO level-grinding. I despise level grinding, but with the new Exp. Share mechanic my team leveled so fast and easily so that by the time I reached the elite 4 they were all level 76-80, which allowed me to cream the Champion who had a team about 10 or 15 levels below me (I think, at that point my ‘mon were so insanely strong I was no longer paying attention to levels). Too bad the starters were all so… weird. I only used my fennekin long enough to catch a fletchling.

Good aim. Looks like he didn’t even singe a hair/feather on T’akirou. 😀
While t’akirou are cousins of the griffon, they are covered in thick fur and have no feathers. 🙂
