Chapter: Chapter 3: The Shrike
You were a little too late there, Jonathan. You should have spent more time trying to help Arra and less time hiding and watching Sleet and Andrea getting the snot kicked out of them.

Check back next Tuesday? You mean I’ve been doing it wrong by checking back just about every day? Hehe.
I remember the secret project. I also remember that it was doing you good, so kudos to you for picking it back up.
Kira’s hair is extra-super-pretty in that second-to-last panel. Does he use L’Oreal or something? Also, very nice use of blurring to emphasize the focus in each panel.
Jonathan doesn’t have enough band-aids on his face for the level of his idiocy, it seems. Shouting will totally help the situation and keep Arra hidden. I’m sure a flare will also help.
Kira uses a special hair treatment spell, but shhhhh, it’s the greatest secret mages possess and they are sworn to never speak of it under pain of bedhair.
And your comment on Jonathan made me laugh out loud. XD. Also, thank you for noticing the blurring- because that made this THE most complex page I’ve yet drawn.
Glad I could make you laugh! Laughter is good for the soul.
It’s a good thing Photoshop is there with its wizardry to make blurring a relatively easy thing to do. It’s a lot messier trying to blur (for example) colored pencils.
The funniest thing one day in school was one of the girly-girls getting all grossed out because I used my fingers to smooth out a pencil drawing. Seriously, what’s so gross about some extra carbon on your fingers? (I still use my fingers to smudge graphite.) Naturally, I laughed internally and showed off my shiny fingers some more and she positively squealed in disgust.
…Ahem. Vaguely related story-time’s over.
It may seem like PS makes blurring easy, but to achive the particular effect on this page, I had to ink it on 3 layers (usually I only use 1). That also meant 3 layers of flats, 3 layers of cel-shading, and 3 groups of backgrounds. It all made for a whopping total of 55 layers. I’m surprised I finished it with my sanity intact.
Well, that is if I had any to begin with….
That blur effect really did come out nicely. Also I really like the evening reddish purple colors, so beautiful.
Thank you very much! ^^
