Life was normal for Fawna — well, as normal as life can be for a red fox raised by a wolf and an eagle, and whose best friend is a squirrel — until dark, soul-devouring creatures called ombri started creeping around her forest home. The ombri are seeking her, and her guardians can’t protect her forever. Meanwhile, mysterious humans with supernatural powers known as daemons are plotting. They’re after Fawna, too, and they seem to think this little blue-eyed fox is the secret to defeating the ombri once and for all.
